Health and Safety
Health and Safety plays a fundamental part in the operation of our business. Protecting our staff, as well as our customers and the wider environment is at the heart of every service we offer.
Our commitment to Health and Safety is demonstrated by every one of our employees and managed by the Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) Department. The SHE Department is a dedicated, independent and multifunctional team providing services to the Group in relation to Health & Safety, Environmental Compliance and ISO Management Systems.
The SHE team acts as a central resource and is responsible for ensuring the health and safety of all employees throughout the Group, as well as any customer or member of the general public that may come into contact with PHS, its products or services. This is achieved through the development of safe working practices and by ensuring that all operational teams comply with the relevant waste disposal, environmental protection and Health and Safety legislation. Our SHE team will audit our operations at least once a year and as part of our duty of care the team are also responsible for auditing and evaluating waste disposal sites and suppliers in conjunction with the relevant operating Divisions.
As one of the UK’s largest waste disposal companies, the SHE team is also called upon to represent the business on various consultations led by the Environment Agency, Department of Transport, DEFRA and the Department of Health.
